Caring For Your Jewellery
ProtectÂ
Remove jewellery before:
- Swimming, bathing washing hands.
- Applying personal products such as perfume, hairspray and lotions.
- Entering a steam room or sauna.
- Cooking, gardening.
Avoid
- Chlorinated water - the chemicals can permanently damage metals and gemstones and pearls.
- Personal care and household products - these products contain chemicals that can dull metal finishes and make stones appear dingy.
- Impact - All jewellery should be handled with care to avoid hitting or dropping your jewellery against a hard surface.
Store
- To prevent scratching or tangling, store each of your pieces separately and in its own pouch.
- Store silver pieces in an air tight bag to prevent tarnishing. Small zip lock plastic bags work well for this.
- Store your jewellery in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
Clean
- To clean your pieces at home, submerge jewellery in a solution of warm water and a detergent free soap. Let soak for a few minutes.
- Gently scrub out lotion and dirt with a very soft brush. Rinse with clear water and pat dry.
- Pearls should not be submerged in water or scrubbed with any brush; instead, wipe clean with a damp cloth and air dry.
- A polishing cloth can be used on the shiny areas of your jewellery to maintain its high polish finish.
